Club History - Roker Park / Boating Lake

During the construction of Roker Park, water which drained from Fulwell hills was redirected to supply the boating lake.

There was an overflow at the bridge which supplied the park’s water fall.

Notice the large stones which border the lake. These were replaced by brickwork in the 1930’s.

The lake has been used over the years by many model sailing enthusiasts as seen by the old photographs of unknown origin.

The Roker Park Club was officially formed in May 2005 by a number of modellers who sailed their boats on a regular basis throughout the years at the lakeside.
